Recurve Bows
What is a recurve bow?
A recurve bow is a bow of which the tips of the limbs are pointing away from the archer when strung. Recurve bows can be modern bows and traditional bows. The name is derived from the shape of the bow, not from the use of it.
On this page we limit ourselves to the modern and recreational recurve bows, for our traditional recurve bows, we direct you to our traditional category.
A modern or Olympic recurve bow is used by both archery clubs as well as recreation companies. This is because of the versatility of this type of bow. They are easy to adjust, change out the limbs for and add accessories to.
Size Recurve Bow
When choosing your Recurve bow, it is important to choose the right length and draw weight of the bow. Choosing wrongly may result in improper technique on the long run, not shooting efficiently or even injuries.
Length
choosing the right length of bow is an important first step. Using a bow that is too long for you can mean that you are not unlocking the full potential of your set-up and picking a bow that is too short can mean that you put too much stress in the limbs when drawing it back. Not only that, but a bow that is too short will have a steeper string angle, which can result in your fingers being pinched together. In turn, that will not only cause release problems but also painful fingers.
Draw Weight
Choosing draw weight is also an important task. Many people have the urge to pick a heavy draw weight. This will make you more prone to injury and choosing a bow you can not shoot with propoer technique.
